Sunrise MarketPlace Business Improvement District (BID) expanded the entertainment options in the Sacramento region with the Sunrise MarketPlace Outdoor Pavilion, launching the “Sunrise at Night Concert Series”. This year Sunrise MarketPlace, along with Sunrise Mall, is hosting a top-notch entertainer concert series in August and September in the stadium. Performances run through September 14 at 8:00 p.m.
Many top performers are set to perform for the “Sunrise at Night Concert Series including:
August 25 – Three Dog Night with America
September 1 - The Doodlebops with Caillou
September 8 - Kool & the Gang with The Commodores
September 14 – Blondie with Devo
The Series actually kicked off Aug 10 with Lonstar and the Charlie Daniels Band and followed up with Lee Ritenour & Friends and Spyro Gyra last Saturday Aug 18th. I was fortunate enough to experience that great concert and posted these pictures for you to check out.
The Sunrise MarketPlace Outdoor Pavilion is located in the Sunrise Mall parking lot near the North Macy’s. Parking is always free. Ticket prices range from $19.50 to $82.50 depending on show and reserved seating area. To purchase tickets please visit www.shopSMP.com.
The 2,500-seat stadium offers an alternative to larger venues located in the area. Several things will set this stadium apart including a convenient location in the center of the region; spacious and comfortable seating with more leg room; affordable ticket prices; free parking and onsite food and beverage.
The Sunrise MarketPlace Outdoor Pavilion is home to the Sacramento Capitals World Team Tennis for the second consecutive year; the team also played here from 2002-2006. “During the 2011 season, on-site research reflected additional spending in the District by attendees before each match, generating more than $400,000 in additional sales revenue” stated Kathilynn Carpenter, Executive Director of the Sunrise MarketPlace BID. “With the addition of concerts this year, the potential to generate an additional $1 million in sales revenue within the District is very promising!”
In order to ensure the highest quality venue and to maximize user experience, the BID invested more than $100,000 in the stadium in 2011 and has done so again in 2012. “Our vision has always been to leverage the use of the stadium by expanding usage to include other entertainment options,” said Carpenter.
The decision to move forward with an alternative use of the stadium stemmed an intercept survey, where 40% of surveyed patrons identified events as an effective trip motivator and 60% said they preferred concerts and entertainment options. These events draw new and repeat visitors to the district, building awareness to for the 400 businesses located within the district.
“We are very excited about this opportunity to provide more entertainment options to the Sacramento region” added Christi Woodards General Manager of Sunrise Mall and Chair of the Sunrise MarketPlace Board of Directors. “In the future, we hope these events pave the way for a year-round performing arts and sports center located within the district, which would be an amenity for residents and surrounding communities.”
As a Business Improvement District, Sunrise MarketPlace is responsible for marketing and driving traffic to the businesses located within the 10 block area. Along with promoting sales and discounts at the retailers and restaurants, events are a great way to drive traffic and generate awareness.
